Attorney General Praises Majority Leader for Public Safety Leadership

State Senator Richard Devlin announced the endorsement of key leaders of the public safety and law enforcement community Thursday. The chief law enforcement officer of the state, Attorney General John Kroger, endorsed Senator Devlin, as did the Oregon Council of Police Associations and the Oregon State Police Associations.

“As a long time advocate of local law enforcement, one of my top priorities is that the public safety community has the laws and resources they need to keep our neighborhoods safe and reduce crime,” said Senator Devlin. “I am honored to be endorsed by the frontline leadership of the public safety community, and I will stand by them in the coming years as their state senator.”

A former corrections officer, Devlin is known for his work combating meth, stopping ID theft, and protecting women from domestic violence. Devlin also helped to create the first police department in Tualatin.

“Law enforcement and public safety have no greater ally and friend in Salem than Senator Richard Devlin,” said Attorney General John Kroger.

"Senator Richard Devlin has been a stable and reliable voice when it comes to making Oregonians safer. His steadfast support and leadership in reestablishing 24/7 coverage by the Oregon State Police has made traveling on Oregon's highways safer,” said Senior Trooper Jeff Leighty, President of the Oregon State Police Officers Association. “It doesn't surprise me that Senator Devlin has earned the support and endorsement of Oregon's Troopers. He has always be there when it comes to supporting law enforcement."

“The OCPA is pleased to report to the citizens of Oregon that Senator Devlin not only cares about keeping our neighborhoods, the streets and highways safe but he cares about keeping our Public Safety Officers safe as well,” said Brian DeLashmutt of the Oregon Council of Police Associations Senator Devlin is the State Senator for West Linn, Lake Oswego, and Tualatin.
