Constituents Turn Out for Lake Oswego Town Hall

Senator Devlin thanks community for feedback on education

DISTRICT 19—Senator Richard Devlin thanked constituents Tuesday evening for their participation in a town hall he hosted at the West End Building in Lake Oswego. Devlin was joined by a panel of education experts, including Senator Mark Hass (D-Beaverton), Chair of the Senate Education Committee, Representative Sara Gelser (D-Corvallis), Chair of the House Education Committee, and Linda Brown, Lake Oswego School Board Member.

During Devlin’s opening remarks at the event, he spoke about the fundamental need to protect education as the underpinning of economic recovery. Devlin explained that despite uncertainty over state resources, he continues to fight tirelessly to secure as much funding as possible for schools.

“From the moment I entered the Legislature, I have made quality education for Oregon children my very top priority. I am known as one of the Legislature's staunchest defenders of public education and a tireless advocate for giving schools the resources they need to succeed. My reason is simple: education is the foundation of success for our children, our communities and our economy.”

The Lake Oswego town hall was one of three planned throughout District 19. The next opportunity to attend a town hall will be July 13th at the West Linn City Hall. For this event, Devlin will be joined by Attorney General John Kroger for a conversation on public safety.
