Constituents Turn Out for Tualatin Town Hall
Senator Devlin thanks community, shares feedback on consumer protection event
DISTRICT 19—Senator Richard Devlin thanked constituents Wednesday evening for their participation in a town hall he hosted at the Tualatin Heritage Center. Joined by Keith Dubanevich, chief of staff in the Oregon Department of Justice, Devlin said the conversation on consumer protection was both informative and constructive.
“Hearing firsthand from my constituents greatly assists me in representing our community in the Capitol,” said Devlin. “The conversation on consumer protection provided a lot of insight as to where we need to prioritize services in order to help Oregonians.”
During Devlin’s opening remarks at the event, he highlighted several of the major achievements made in recent sessions in the area of consumer protection, including reining in unscrupulous debt collectors and making sure big banks are held accountable for their actions.
“Our most important advances have been in the key areas of cracking down on predatory practices, preventing identity theft and helping families facing foreclosures,” said Devlin. “In the last six years the Oregon Legislature has made remarkable strides toward making sure consumers are treated fairly and not taken advantage of.”
The Tualatin town hall was one of three planned throughout District 19 this month. The next opportunity to attend a town hall will be, June 29th, in Lake Oswego at the West End Building. The topic will be education and special guests will include the chairs of the Senate and House Education Committees, Senator Mark Hass and Representative Sara Gelser, as well as Lake Oswego School Board Member Linda Brown.
